THU Challenge 2018

Started with some researches about buildings and history of Malta, ended up going for the The Siege Bell War Memorial; the basic concept was to mix contemporary monuments with the history of Malta. Reading about all the cool background history it has, I got caught in the Medieval period when it was ruled by the Kingdom of Sicily, but was inhabited by the Hospitallers knights: the symbolic price to give to the Kingdom was a trained hunting falcon every year.

After I got all the references, I decided to have in my painting the Hospitallers knights while training falcons and have then set in the Memorial building, creating a magic connection between the past and present of Malta.
